We are a little behind on things...

So Tim was tagged, um, several months ago to do the next post...

Last night we were discussing the future of FHE in our home. We are working on a new game plan. For Christmas, Chris and Steve gave us the new nursery manual, Behold Your Little Ones.

Ellia started nursery 2 weeks ago, and it seems to be going alright. Last week the regular nursery teacher was gone so the Sunbeam teacher combined the classes. I sat in for the first hour to help out a little. Ellia is always eager to play with the toys when we are at the church. She also loves the little chairs and table.

I'm not sure why I was so surprised to see her willingly give up the toys and go to sit on the chair and listen to the lesson. They opened with a prayer and a song, had a little lesson, another song, prayer and then coloring time. She didn't sit and listen the whole time, but she was definitely drawn back in when the music played, and she wasn't any less interested than the Sunbeams were. She usually likes coloring, but seemed to think that it was more fun to try to use the crayons as lipstick. She very carefully tried to apply it. At first I thought she was going to try to eat them, but she really was just rubbing the crayon on her lips. We thank Heidi for teaching her that one...

Anyway, after seeing how she responded to the whole thing, I know that we can do this at home, using the nursery manual as a guide. Tim seems to think he can handle giving it a try, especially if he gets some rough and tumble playtime in, and we have a treat. Of course, honey!

So next week, we are going to give it a go. I think we will start with lesson 1, I Am a Child of God.

I don't know if anyone still checks in here... and I know that some don't have children yet, or have older kids... but I think that I Am a Child of God is a lesson that we can all appreciate. I am sure that Preach My Gospel has a similar section that might be used as a starting point for older crowds.
